The PHYBA Philosophy
8 QuestionsMost supplement brands build formulas around what looks impressive on a label — trending ingredients at subthreshold doses, masked by high-dose stimulants that make you feel something is happening. PHYBA takes the opposite approach: every ingredient is selected based on its specific mechanism of action and dosed at clinically relevant levels.
The second major difference is our gut-first design principle. Every PHYBA formula considers gut health as a prerequisite — not an afterthought. We recognise that nutrient absorption, immune function, hormonal balance, and recovery are all downstream of gut integrity. Products that ignore the gut undermine their own efficacy.
The result is performance that builds over time rather than performance borrowed from your nervous system reserves.
Caffeine is effective — we're not dismissing it. But high-dose caffeine in a daily pre-workout creates a dependency cycle that progressively undermines the very things you're training to improve. It builds tolerance rapidly, disrupts sleep architecture even when taken 6+ hours before bed, elevates cortisol, taxes the HPA axis over time, and does nothing to actually improve your aerobic capacity, blood flow, or mitochondrial efficiency.
Athletic Energy and Sonic Energy are designed for daily, long-term use. They improve the underlying biological pathways of performance — nitric oxide production, mitochondrial efficiency, ATP availability, blood flow — rather than masking fatigue signals temporarily.
Performance built on genuine physiology compounds over weeks and months. Performance built on stimulants erodes.
Note: Solarbeam does contain natural caffeine from green coffee bean and green tea extract at moderate, clean-energy doses — for those who want a gentle lift without a harsh stimulant load.
Clinical dosing means every active ingredient is present at the dose used in the peer-reviewed research that demonstrated its efficacy — not at a token "fairy dust" dose included purely to put an ingredient on the label.
For example: Citrulline Malate has demonstrated meaningful performance benefits at 6–8g per serving. Many pre-workouts contain 1–2g while still listing it prominently. Beta-Alanine requires 3.2–6.4g daily to load carnosine — most formulas include a fraction of that. Ashwagandha's cortisol-reducing effects are validated at 600mg of KSM-66 standardised extract.
Clinical dosing is more expensive to formulate. It's also the only approach that actually works.
PHYBA formulas are built primarily from botanical actives, plant-derived compounds, and naturally occurring amino acids and minerals. We do not use artificial colours, flavours, or sweeteners — Stevia is used where sweetness is needed.
"Plant-based" in our context means we source performance from the natural world: pomegranate polyphenols for nitric oxide upregulation, schisandra for mitochondrial efficiency, ashwagandha for HPA axis modulation, fulvic minerals for cellular transport. These are compounds with centuries of traditional use and growing bodies of clinical evidence — not synthetic stimulants engineered purely for acute effect.
Some ingredients like Creatine Monohydrate and L-Glutamine are synthesised to pharmaceutical purity for reasons of dose precision and bioavailability — but both are identical in structure to compounds the body produces naturally.
PHYBA is designed for people who train with intent and take the long view on their health. Our core community includes:
Endurance AthletesHYROX CompetitorsRunnersHybrid AthletesStrength AthletesCrossFitCyclistsRowers
But the core philosophy — gut-first, clinically dosed, natural, systems-oriented — applies broadly to anyone who understands that genuine wellness is built from the inside out. If you've experienced gut distress during training, poor recovery, or diminishing returns from stimulant-based products, PHYBA was built with you in mind.
Every PHYBA product is designed to contribute to four interconnected health and performance pillars:
Performance — actual physiological improvement in blood flow, oxygen delivery, mitochondrial output, and ATP availability. Not a stimulant buzz.
Recovery — reducing post-exercise inflammation, repairing the gut lining, supporting deep sleep, and accelerating muscle repair so you're ready to train again sooner.
Longevity — compounds clinically associated with telomere protection, mitophagy, sarcopenia prevention, oxidative stress reduction, and the microbiome diversity that predicts healthy ageing.
Gut Health — the foundational pillar. Gut integrity is prerequisite to all the others. Every PHYBA formula addresses it.
PHYBA products are formulated and manufactured in compliance with Australian standards. As food-grade supplements, they fall under food regulations rather than the TGA therapeutic goods framework. All health-related statements on our products and communications reflect the available published scientific literature.
These statements have not been evaluated by the TGA. PHYBA products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have a specific medical condition or are taking prescription medications, please consult your healthcare practitioner before use.
The majority of PHYBA products are vegan-friendly. Phyto-Fusion is specifically formulated as a complete plant-based protein. The PHYBA Basics range (Creatine, Leucine, Beta-Alanine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Glutamine) are all vegan.

Ingredients & Science
8 QuestionsBoth Citrulline and Arginine ultimately raise nitric oxide (NO) levels, which improves blood flow and oxygen delivery during exercise. However, oral L-Arginine is substantially broken down by the liver and intestines before reaching the bloodstream — meaning very little of what you consume actually becomes NO.
L-Citrulline bypasses this first-pass metabolism. It's converted to L-Arginine in the kidney, achieving significantly higher plasma Arginine levels than direct Arginine supplementation. The malate component also supports the Krebs cycle for ATP regeneration and helps clear ammonia — a key contributor to central fatigue during hard efforts.
A landmark RCT showed Citrulline Malate at 8g produced a 52.9% increase in repetitions to failure and a 40% reduction in muscle soreness versus placebo — one of the largest effect sizes ever recorded in pre-workout research.
Cluster Dextrin® (Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin / HBCD) is a patented carbohydrate with a uniquely low osmolality of around 12 mOsm/kg, compared to maltodextrin at 60–80 mOsm/kg and sugar at even higher levels.
Osmolality matters enormously during exercise. High-osmolality carbohydrates draw fluid into the gut as they're digested, causing the bloating, nausea, and cramping that plague endurance athletes using standard sports drinks or gels. Cluster Dextrin® exits the stomach rapidly without this fluid-drawing effect, delivering smooth, sustained energy with virtually no GI distress.
Peer-reviewed research confirms significantly faster gastric emptying, lower perceived exertion, and better GI tolerance versus maltodextrin at the same carbohydrate dose — making it the gold standard carbohydrate for sensitive GI systems and long training sessions.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is one of the most clinically validated adaptogenic herbs. Its active compounds — withanolides — modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, the body's primary stress response system.
In a double-blind RCT, KSM-66 standardised Ashwagandha extract produced a 27.9% reduction in serum cortisol over 60 days. Chronically elevated cortisol is catabolic (breaks down muscle), immunosuppressive, gut-damaging, and sleep-disrupting — making cortisol reduction directly relevant to performance, recovery, and gut health simultaneously.
It also modulates GABA-A receptors, supporting the calming nervous system tone required for deep sleep — which is why it appears in both Super Juice (daily stress resilience) and Moonbeam (sleep and overnight recovery).
Akkermansia muciniphila is a next-generation probiotic strain that lives in the mucus layer of the intestinal wall. Unlike standard probiotics, it specifically stimulates the renewal of the protective mucus layer that lines the gut — maintaining barrier thickness and integrity as an active, dynamic process.
It is one of the species most consistently depleted in metabolic disease, obesity, and inflammatory conditions — and most consistently present in healthy, long-lived populations. Multiple longevity cohort studies have identified Akkermansia as the single strain most associated with healthy ageing and reduced systemic inflammation.
Its inclusion in Solarbeam reflects the latest generation of probiotic science — moving beyond standard Lactobacillus/Bifidobacterium strains to address the gut barrier directly.
Butyrate is the primary energy source for colonocytes — the cells that form your intestinal lining. Sodium butyrate supplements exist but have a very short half-life in the gut and are largely absorbed before reaching the colon where they're needed most. They also have a distinctly unpleasant odour.
Tributyrin is a triglyceride ester of butyric acid — essentially a pro-drug that is absorbed more slowly, is odourless, and releases butyrate more reliably throughout the colon. Beyond being gut cell fuel, butyrate also inhibits HDAC enzymes (epigenetic regulators that influence inflammation and stem cell renewal) and activates GPR109a receptors, triggering anti-inflammatory regulatory T-cell responses.
In the context of exercise — where gut blood flow can drop by 60–80%, starving intestinal cells of oxygen and fuel — Tributyrin provides direct countermeasure nutrition to the cells most compromised by training.
Supplemental melatonin at doses typically found in sleep products (3–10mg) suppresses the body's own melatonin production over time, creating a dependency — and the morning grogginess many people experience is a direct result of exogenous melatonin lingering in the system.
Moonbeam instead uses Tart Cherry Extract, which naturally contains melatonin precursors that work with your circadian rhythm rather than overriding it. Multiple RCTs have demonstrated improved sleep duration and quality from tart cherry. Combined with psychobiotics (B. longum, L. plantarum) that reduce cortisol via the gut-brain axis, botanical GABAergics (passionflower, lemon balm, chamomile), and Saffron for serotonin pathway support — the formula supports deep, natural sleep architecture without creating dependency or next-day impairment.
Fulvic acid is a naturally occurring compound found in humus-rich soils, formed by the decomposition of organic matter over millennia. It functions as a natural chelating agent — meaning it binds to minerals and nutrients and facilitates their transport across cell membranes, improving bioavailability of co-administered compounds.
Cell Charge™ fulvic minerals in Athletic Energy and Super Juice also support electron transport enhancement — a mechanism related to cellular energy production — and provide a broad-spectrum trace mineral matrix of over 70 ionic minerals that are increasingly depleted in modern agricultural soils and therefore modern diets.
In practice: it makes everything else in the formula work better by improving absorption and cellular uptake of co-administered actives.
Solarbeam is formulated differently because it serves a different purpose — it's a multi-system daily immune, respiratory, and energy support product rather than a dedicated pre-workout.
Green coffee bean and green tea extract are included primarily for their chlorogenic acid and EGCG content respectively — potent antioxidant and AMPK-activating compounds that support fat metabolism, cognitive function, and cellular protection. The natural caffeine present is at moderate, clean-energy levels — significantly lower than a standard pre-workout — and is balanced by the adaptogenic and calming compounds in the formula.
The key principle: these are not stimulants used to manufacture energy. They're antioxidant-rich botanicals with modest, clean natural caffeine as a secondary component.
Gut Health
6 QuestionsThe gut is not just a digestive organ — it is an immune organ, an endocrine organ, and a neurological organ. Approximately 70% of immune system activity is located in gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). The gut produces 90–95% of the body's serotonin. Microbiome diversity is one of the strongest predictors of both athletic performance and healthy longevity in the published literature.
During intense exercise, blood flow is redistributed from the gut to working muscles — reducing gut perfusion by up to 80%. This directly compromises intestinal lining integrity, increases gut permeability, allows bacterial endotoxins into the bloodstream, and triggers systemic inflammation. This is the primary mechanism of post-exercise immune suppression in endurance athletes.
Virtually no mainstream sports nutrition brand addresses this. PHYBA considers it foundational — because no matter how good your pre-workout is, if your gut lining is compromised, you're absorbing less of it, recovering slower, and carrying systemic inflammation that limits your next training session.
Prebiotics are non-digestible fibres that selectively feed beneficial gut bacteria. They are the food. Examples in PHYBA: Inulin (chicory), Baobab pectin, Glucomannan (konjac).
Probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit. They are the bacteria themselves. Examples: Lactospore® (B. coagulans), L. rhamnosus, Akkermansia muciniphila, psychobiotics in Moonbeam.
Synbiotics are formulas that contain both prebiotics and probiotics together — where the prebiotic selectively nourishes the probiotic strains, creating synergistic benefit beyond either alone. Gut Guardian is PHYBA's complete synbiotic — and also includes DigeZyme® enzyme complex, making it a three-pillar gut system: feed the bacteria, populate the microbiome, and maximise digestion of everything you eat.
Plant proteins cause bloating for a specific, well-understood reason: they contain anti-nutritional factors — lectins, phytates, and protease inhibitors — that resist digestion, ferment in the colon, and produce gas. Most brands address this cosmetically (better flavouring, thicker texture) rather than solving the underlying problem.
Phyto-Fusion solves it structurally. DigeZyme® is a five-enzyme complex (protease, amylase, lipase, cellulase, lactase) that breaks down plant cell wall structures and anti-nutritional factors before they reach the colon, eliminating the fermentation substrate that causes gas and bloating. Lactospore® (B. coagulans) supports the gut environment for ongoing protein utilisation.
The protein base also matters: watermelon seed, pumpkin seed, and sunflower seed proteins are naturally lower in anti-nutrients than soy, making the base formula inherently gentler before the enzymes even act.
Many people with IBS find PHYBA products to be significantly better tolerated than conventional sports nutrition — precisely because we've designed for gut sensitivity rather than ignoring it. The absence of artificial sweeteners (common IBS triggers), high-fructose loads, and gut-irritating additives removes many of the standard supplement industry's most common IBS triggers.
Gut Guardian with Lactospore® (B. coagulans) has direct clinical evidence for IBS symptom improvement. Sonic Energy with Cluster Dextrin® avoids the osmotic stress of standard carbohydrate sources. L-Glutamine supports tight junction integrity that is often compromised in IBS.
However, IBS is a complex and highly individual condition. We recommend starting with lower doses of fibre-containing products (Gut Guardian, Super Juice) and building up gradually. If you have a diagnosed condition, please consult your gastroenterologist or dietician — and feel free to share our science page with them.

Intestinal hyperpermeability — colloquially "leaky gut" — refers to the breakdown of tight junction proteins (claudin-1, occludin, ZO-1) in the intestinal lining, allowing undigested food particles, bacterial endotoxins, and pathogens to cross into the bloodstream. This triggers chronic low-grade systemic inflammation linked to fatigue, immune dysregulation, and a wide range of health issues.
Several PHYBA compounds directly address intestinal permeability:
L-Glutamine upregulates claudin-1 and occludin tight junction proteins directly. Tributyrin fuels enterocytes and triggers GPR109a anti-inflammatory signalling. Akkermansia muciniphila (Solarbeam) restores mucus layer thickness — the first line of gut defence. Lactospore® (Gut Guardian, Phyto-Fusion) supports beneficial microbiome conditions for barrier maintenance.
For targeted gut lining support, the most direct combination is Gut Guardian + PHYBA L-Glutamine.
Yes — Gut Guardian is designed for daily ongoing use. The three components work in complementary ways that benefit from consistency over time: prebiotic fibres nourish the microbiome daily, Lactospore® maintains probiotic colonisation, and DigeZyme® supports every meal you eat.
Microbiome diversity — the strongest predictor of gut health outcomes — improves progressively with consistent prebiotic intake. There is no adaptation or tolerance issue with Gut Guardian's formulation. Most people notice meaningful improvements in digestion, regularity, and bloating within 2–4 weeks of consistent use.
Products
7 QuestionsAthletic Energy is a pre-workout primer — taken 30–60 minutes before training to prime your physiology. It improves blood flow via nitric oxide pathways (Citrulline Malate, pomegranate), enhances mitochondrial efficiency (Schisandra), provides adaptogenic stress resilience, and repairs gut integrity under training stress (Tributyrin, fulvic minerals). No carbohydrates — it is not a fuel source, it is a performance primer.
Sonic Energy is an intra-workout fuel — taken during training to sustain energy, maintain hydration, and support power output. It delivers 17.8g of Cluster Dextrin® carbohydrate for sustained energy, full-spectrum electrolytes to replace sweat losses, and 2g of creatine for ATP regeneration.
They are designed to be used together: Athletic Energy primes the system, Sonic Energy fuels it through the session.
Three things separate Phyto-Fusion from standard plant proteins:
1. Complete amino acid profile. The quad-blend (pea, watermelon seed, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed) is designed so each protein source complements the others' amino acid gaps — creating a complete essential amino acid profile comparable to whey.
2. DigeZyme® enzyme complex. Addresses the root cause of plant protein bloating by breaking down anti-nutritional factors and plant cell wall structures before they reach the colon.
3. Lactospore® probiotic. Supports the gut microbiome environment for ongoing protein utilisation — something no other plant protein on the market includes as standard.
A published RCT (Babault et al., 2015) demonstrated pea protein produces equivalent muscle thickness gains to whey when leucine-matched. Phyto-Fusion is formulated with this in mind.
Super Juice is your daily nutritional foundation — a premium adaptogenic superfood powder functioning as a natural whole-body multivitamin, multimineral, and wellness tonic. It closes nutrient gaps, supports microbiome health (inulin prebiotic), reduces stress (Ashwagandha, Schisandra, Maca, Eleuthero), provides antioxidant protection (pomegranate, rosehip, pine bark, green tea EGCG), and includes diatomaceous earth for gut lining and connective tissue support.
Take it every morning — mixed with water or your preferred beverage — as the daily foundation everything else builds on. It's designed to be taken year-round without cycling off.
Noteworthy: Astragalus in Super Juice is one of the only known botanical compounds to activate telomerase — the enzyme that maintains telomere length. This is a genuine, clinically studied longevity mechanism.
Both are daily wellness formulas, but they target different systems and can be used together without overlap.
Super Juice is a broad-spectrum nutritional foundation — adaptogens, antioxidants, prebiotics, trace minerals. Think of it as closing the daily nutritional gap and building stress resilience from the ground up.
Solarbeam specifically targets the gut-lung-immune axis — the interconnected system between microbiome health and respiratory/immune function. It features next-generation Akkermansia muciniphila for gut barrier repair, peppermint for airway function, Kakadu Plum (the world's highest natural Vitamin C source at up to 3,000mg/100g), and Shilajit for mitochondrial energy. It also contains moderate natural caffeine from green coffee and green tea for clean daily energy.
Solarbeam is particularly valuable during high training load periods, winter, travel, or any time immune resilience and respiratory function are a priority.
PHYBA Basics is a range of pure, pharmaceutical-grade, single-ingredient compounds for athletes who want precise dose control and transparent supplementation:
Creatine Monohydrate — the most researched ergogenic in sports science
L-Leucine — the master switch for muscle protein synthesis
Beta-Alanine — intramuscular acid buffer for high-intensity performance
Sodium Bicarbonate — extracellular blood pH buffer for repeat sprint efforts
L-Glutamine — gut integrity, immune function, and recovery
No fillers, no proprietary blends, no artificial additives. Each product contains exactly what it says — which also makes them ideal for stacking precisely with other PHYBA formulas.
Morning grogginess from sleep supplements is almost always caused by one of two things: high-dose melatonin lingering in the system, or sedative compounds that impair sleep architecture rather than improving it.
Moonbeam contains neither. Its botanical GABAergics (passionflower, lemon balm, chamomile) and psychobiotics work by calming the nervous system and reducing cortisol — facilitating natural sleep onset rather than forcing sedation. They have relatively short half-lives and don't accumulate in the system. Magnesium Malate supports overnight muscle recovery and nerve calming without the sedative overhang of pharmaceutical sleep aids.
The result is that most people report feeling genuinely more rested and clear-headed the following morning — which is the actual goal.
It varies by product and individual, but as a general guide:
Immediate (same session): Athletic Energy (blood flow, pump, focus), Sonic Energy (sustained energy, hydration), Moonbeam (sleep onset).
1–2 weeks: Gut Guardian (improved digestion, reduced bloating, regularity), Phyto-Fusion (noticeably better digestion than previous plant proteins), Super Juice (energy, stress resilience).
4–8 weeks: Beta-Alanine (carnosine loading requires 4–12 weeks of consistent use), Creatine (full saturation 3–4 weeks), measurable improvements in gut microbiome diversity.
PHYBA is not a stimulant-based, feel-it-immediately product range. It is designed to build genuine physiological improvements over time — which means the benefits accumulate rather than fade with tolerance.
Stacking & Dosing
6 QuestionsWe recommend starting with the two-product foundation that underpins everything else: Super Juice in the morning and Gut Guardian with your largest meal. These establish the nutritional and gut health baseline that makes everything else work better.
From there, layer in products according to your primary goal: add Athletic Energy if performance is the priority, Moonbeam if sleep and recovery need attention, or Phyto-Fusion if you want a clean plant protein. The PHYBA Basics are the next layer for athletes who want to target specific performance mechanisms with precision.
There's no wrong order — but starting with the gut health foundation tends to produce the most noticeable baseline improvements.
Yes — PHYBA is explicitly designed as a complementary ecosystem. There are no contraindicated combinations within the range, and many compounds work synergistically: the urolithin A conversion potential from pomegranate in Solarbeam is enhanced by the probiotic strains in Gut Guardian; Leucine supplementation for muscle protein synthesis is amplified by DigeZyme® in Phyto-Fusion; creatine in Sonic Energy stacks cleanly with standalone PHYBA Creatine (simply ensure your total daily dose stays at 3–5g maintenance).
A practical daily framework for a serious athlete might look like: Super Juice (morning) → Athletic Energy (pre-training) → Sonic Energy (intra-training) → Phyto-Fusion + Leucine (post-training) → Gut Guardian (with dinner) → Moonbeam (pre-sleep).
Both approaches are valid and arrive at the same end-point (muscle creatine saturation) — they just get there at different speeds.
Loading (optional, faster): 20g per day split into 4 × 5g doses for 5–7 days, followed by 3–5g/day maintenance. Reaches saturation in approximately 1 week. Can cause minor GI discomfort in some people at loading doses — taking with meals reduces this.
Maintenance-only (slower, gentler): 3–5g per day consistently. Reaches full saturation in approximately 3–4 weeks. Equally effective long-term, and preferred for anyone with sensitive digestion.
Timing is flexible — research does not support a significant pre- vs post-workout advantage. Consistency matters more than timing. Taking with a carbohydrate source marginally improves muscle uptake via insulin-mediated transport.
The tingling sensation — called paresthesia — is a well-documented, completely harmless side effect of Beta-Alanine. It occurs because Beta-Alanine binds to sensory nerve receptors in the skin, producing a temporary pins-and-needles or flushing sensation. It typically lasts 15–30 minutes and diminishes with consistent use as the body adapts.
Paresthesia is not an indicator of efficacy — it's a receptor response, not a gut or systemic effect. To reduce its intensity: take Beta-Alanine with food, split your daily dose across 2–3 smaller serves (e.g., 2 × 1.6g), or simply wait — most people find it diminishes significantly after 1–2 weeks of daily use.
Reassurance: Paresthesia is one of the most studied side effects in sports nutrition. 35+ years of research confirms it is entirely benign.
Sodium Bicarbonate is highly effective but requires careful dosing strategy to avoid GI distress, which is its primary practical challenge:
Dose: 0.2–0.3g per kg bodyweight. For a 75kg athlete that is 15–22.5g.
Timing: 60–90 minutes before competition or high-intensity training — this is when plasma bicarbonate levels peak.
With food: Taking alongside a carbohydrate-rich meal significantly reduces GI side effects by slowing gastric emptying and diluting the bicarbonate load.
Split dosing: Dividing the total dose across 2–3 smaller amounts over 30 minutes further reduces GI discomfort.
Many elite athletes practice "bicarbonate loading" in training before deploying it in competition — allowing the gut to adapt to the dose. Start at the lower end (0.2g/kg) and build up.
HYROX and hybrid racing demand aerobic endurance, repeated high-intensity efforts, and sustained power output — making PHYBA's stimulant-free, gut-friendly approach particularly well suited.
Daily foundation: Super Juice (morning) + Gut Guardian (with dinner) + PHYBA Creatine (3–5g/day)
Pre-race: Athletic Energy (60 min prior) + PHYBA Sodium Bicarbonate (0.2–0.3g/kg, 75–90 min prior with food) + Beta-Alanine if carnosine-loaded
During race: Sonic Energy for carbohydrate fuel and electrolytes
Recovery: Phyto-Fusion + PHYBA Leucine (immediately post) + Moonbeam (that night)
Beta-Alanine and Creatine should be taken consistently for 4+ weeks before race day to ensure full carnosine loading and creatine saturation respectively.
Lifestyle & Athletes
5 QuestionsPHYBA products are formulated for all athletes regardless of gender. The core mechanisms — nitric oxide production, mitochondrial efficiency, gut integrity, adaptogenic HPA modulation — are physiologically relevant across sexes.
Several PHYBA actives are particularly well-suited to female physiology: Maca Root in Super Juice supports hormonal balance and endocrine health; Pumpkin Seed Protein in Phyto-Fusion provides zinc and tryptophan relevant to hormonal and mood regulation; Ashwagandha's cortisol modulation is particularly relevant to female athletes navigating training load and hormonal fluctuation; and the collagen-supporting compounds (Vitamin C, Glycine, diatomaceous earth silica) address connective tissue health relevant to injury prevention.
We recommend consulting your obstetrician, midwife, or GP before taking any supplement during pregnancy or breastfeeding. While many PHYBA ingredients are found naturally in whole foods, the concentrated doses in supplement form have not been specifically studied in pregnancy populations for all actives.
Adaptogenic herbs (Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Schisandra) are generally not recommended during pregnancy. Products containing natural caffeine (Solarbeam) should be used with caution in line with standard pregnancy caffeine guidelines.
Please reach out to james@phyba.com.au with specific product questions — we're happy to provide detailed ingredient information to share with your healthcare provider.
PHYBA products are formulated without any ingredients that appear on the WADA prohibited list. All PHYBA Basics are single, well-characterised compounds widely used in elite sport.
If you compete at a level subject to formal drug testing, we recommend contacting us directly at perform@phyba.com.au to discuss your specific products and competition requirements. For the highest level of assurance, we can point you toward batch-tested certification options.
PHYBA's longevity focus makes it particularly well-suited to older adults. Several products are specifically relevant to the physiological changes that come with ageing:
Phyto-Fusion + PHYBA Leucine: Adults over 50 have a higher leucine threshold for muscle protein synthesis (3–4g/meal vs 2–3g for younger adults). Maintaining adequate protein with boosted leucine is the single most important dietary intervention for sarcopenia prevention.
PHYBA Creatine: Anti-sarcopenic, neuroprotective, bone density supportive — emerging evidence positions creatine as a longevity compound beyond sport.
Super Juice: Astragalus (telomerase activation), pine bark OPCs (cardiovascular antioxidant), Ashwagandha (cortisol/hormonal regulation) — all highly relevant to healthy ageing.
Moonbeam: Sleep quality declines with age and is one of the strongest predictors of cognitive decline. Moonbeam's non-dependency approach to sleep architecture improvement is ideal for long-term use.
Yes — and for most PHYBA products, consistency on rest days is actually important to outcomes. Creatine saturation, carnosine loading (Beta-Alanine), microbiome nourishment (Gut Guardian), and adaptogenic HPA modulation (Super Juice, Moonbeam) all benefit from daily consistency rather than training-day-only use.
The only products designed specifically around training sessions are Athletic Energy (pre-workout) and Sonic Energy (intra-workout) — these are naturally used on training days. All other PHYBA products are daily-use formulas where rest day consistency is part of the protocol.

Full product intelligence reports covering every ingredient, mechanism, and clinical reference for each product are also available — contact james@phyba.com.au to receive the complete documentation set.
As with any supplement, potential herb-drug interactions should be reviewed for patients on prescription medications. A few considerations for common drug classes:
Adaptogenic herbs (Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Schisandra) — potential interaction with thyroid medications; use with caution in autoimmune conditions on immunosuppressants.
Saffron (Moonbeam) — mild serotonergic activity; use with caution alongside SSRIs or other serotonergic medications.
Sodium Bicarbonate (PHYBA Basics) — may affect absorption timing of some medications due to gastric pH alteration; separate by 2 hours.
For patients on complex medication regimens, we recommend reviewing the full ingredient list with our formulation team — email james@phyba.com.au with patient details (de-identified) for a specific assessment.
PHYBA products are food-grade supplements, not therapeutic goods, and are therefore subject to your normal clinical judgement as a practitioner. For many conditions, several PHYBA actives have direct mechanistic relevance and supporting clinical literature:
IBS and gut dysbiosis → Gut Guardian, L-Glutamine
Metabolic syndrome / insulin resistance → Berberine-adjacent effects of some adaptogens; Akkermansia (Solarbeam)
Chronic fatigue / adrenal dysregulation → Super Juice (adaptogens), Moonbeam
Sarcopenia / age-related muscle loss → Phyto-Fusion, PHYBA Leucine, PHYBA Creatine
